From Death To Life

John 5:24- Jesus said, “Amen, amen I tell you, whoever hears My word and trusts the One who sent Me has eternal life. He does not come into judgement, but has passed over from death to life.”

This passage is simple.  It is elegant.  It is the plan of salvation spoken in a confident statement.  There is great focus on the things to come in the afterlife once our bodies exude their last breath.  It is only natural as a believer to wonder what streets of gold look and feel like, or what Heaven may smell like, or what our relatives whom are already there are experiencing, and what age they may look like there.  So many things to wrap our attention around and look forward to.

Yet, while it is a good thing to hope for and desire, we may easily lose sight of the good things we have been promised while we still possess the dust God created man with.

This scripture, spoken by whom many believe is the Jewish Messiah and the Son of the Living God, makes certain that the promise of the life He is referring to begins in this lifetime once belief in Him, and the One who sent Him, is established.  This very statement spoken by Yeshua is rooted so deeply in the culture of the Hebrew people.  The very meaning of the title of their language means “to crossover”.  Let us divulge in this a little further with a Hebrew lesson.

The word (transliterated of course) “Avar” (עבר) is the word for crossover, or also pass over.  The Hebrew word for the Hebrew language is pronounced “Ivrit” (עברית).  Even though it is pronounced differently you can easily see just by looking at each word the first three letters are the same. (Hebrew is read from right to left)

This is engrained deeply in the basis of our faith.  All the way back to Abraham when ADONAI spoke to him and said, “Get out of your country, and from your relatives, and from your father’s house, to the land I will show you.” (Gen 12:1), and Abraham obeyed and he, “Passed (the actual Hebrew word is ויעבר which is translated “and he passed”) through the land…” (beginning of Gen 12:6).  Also, the very action of the nation of Israel crossing over the river Jordan to possess the land promised to them by ADONAI.  This concept is unescapable!  The very words Yeshua/Jesus spoke in John 5:24 is something His disciples had to have immediately understood as soon as the words left His lips.  Oh, the hope they must have felt in their hearts!

Back to the here and now…  Though these words give us hope in the Day of Judgement that we will inherit what we truly do not deserve as believers, we must grasp a greater involvement of that promise while we still trod this planet.  By no means on any level is this to berate anyone who thinks about Heaven and life after death.  It is merely an attempt to convince that heavenly things pertain to life on Earth as well as in Heaven.  “Your kingdom come, Your will be done, on Earth as it is in Heaven.”

The crossing over process begins here on Earth.  If there was nothing beyond the point of crossing over then The LORD would be justified in taking each one of us out of this planet right at that moment.  However, as consistently seen throughout the entire Word of God, we see that crossing over is simply just the beginning of our new found life in Him.  For those of us that have been walking this walk for a long time it is easy for us to look back and see that the crossing over is the easy part.  Much like not remembering being born and only remembering childhood in segments, we can find it similar in our faith walk in the sense that our earlier years seemed much easier and effortless.  Maybe it was because we didn’t know enough to have knowledge get in between us and Messiah.  Or maybe it was because we actually knew how to apply our freedom properly before bad doctrine creeped in.  Either way, hopefully the point is made.  The life lived AFTER crossing over is what our legacy will be and what we will be judged on.

There is so much to explore in this life in Him.  Have we even scratched the surface?  Why do we think there is a limit to what we can experience in Him while we are still on Earth?  Does God work in mysterious ways?  Of course those questions are meant to be rhetorical.  I think a better question is why do we believe God would hold anything back from us when He said He would give us everything through His Messiah.  He made us rightful heirs to it all!  Romans 8:17 “…heirs of God and joint-heirs with Messiah…”; Galations 3:29 “And if you belong to Messiah, then you are Abraham’s seed– heirs according to the promise.”; Galations 4:7 “So you are no loner a slave but a son– and if a son, also an heir through God.”… and many other scriptures involving heirship.  Not to mention the countless teachings of what constitutes the rights of an heir.  Being heirs, we have a right to ALL the things of God.  He will withhold no good thing for those who walk uprightly with Him!(Psalms 84:12).  We have already inherited it all!  It is not said that we have to wait for those good things till we get to heaven!  Eternity is now!  Do not believe for one millisecond that God is disconnected!  Cultivate heaven in you by prayer and worship!  Till the ground for the new seed to be planted!  Pursue the harvest!  Trust that He will reveal to you the good things He has for you!  His plans for you are as specifically for you as your fingerprints are!

Do not revisit the death you were raised from.  If it comes looking for you, do not bow your knee to it.  The Life in you is stronger and more powerful!  Will a dead lifeless body every be able to compete and overtake a strong lively healthy body?  There is no contest!

Yeshua/Jesus showed us the possibilities and won it all for us.  He did not leave us empty handed, or even with just a little bit.  He left us with it all and even more sent us The Helper!  The very Spirit that is in Him!

Creation eagerly awaits the revelation of the sons of God(Romans 8:19).  The sons of God are already inhabiting this planet and have for thousands of years.  Maybe once we all understand and believe that who we are on this planet, and who we will be in Heaven, are the same person, then and only then will we be revealed to creation.

  1. Have you ever considered that the word “Relax” is associated with Sabbath Rest.. just as the be still and Know that I am God is?.. Search the scriptures and see If God/Jesus ever gave a command or instruction or practiced anything other than the 4th commandment to REST on the 7th day of the week (Fri Eve-Sat Eve). Search the Prophets and see if it is still in effect in the New Millenium, Check out the history of Constantine and the Catholic Church regarding Changing the Times and Laws of God.. Be Blessed in “Knowing” that God sanctifies you when you keep/obey his command to Rest on the 7th day (as he did from all his works), know that he is the one who sanctifies you. (Most of what I just typed is found in your bible). Sunday Rest is Never mentioned. Ever ask why God wrote his commandments in STONE or why he said REMEMBER the Sabbath to keep it Holy(Not make a day Holy), for He personally Blessed and Sanctified the day. He made it for man (A gift) without repentance(Matt24:20 & Acts 13:41-44 and Hebrews 4:9 etc). Blessings in God’s eternal Truths. For ALL his commandments are true and endure forever and ever. Ps 111:7,8 Deut 7:9 and 1 John 2:3,4 Blessings in Obedience of the Faith Once Delivered to the Saints. Romans 6:16 Etc, Etc, For the Wrath of God is poured out on the children of Disobedience. Finally Jesus said in Matt 7:21-24 and 12:50 and Luke 6:46, 8:21, Luke 11:28 I pray God spoke to your heart here. Blessings upon the Israel of God.(YHWH).
